Two weeks almost gone already…..and what a wonderful two weeks they have been!  This evening, to celebrate our time together, one of the board members for Habitat Macon put on a “Low Country Boil” for us.  Wow and yum!  Several board members and staff joined us for a delicious dinner…spicey and oh so nicey!

The hot meal was so appreciated as the weather has turned very cold tonight and temps will freeze again by morning.  The house we are now working in has no heat and no hot water, so we are not looking forward to the icy morning.  We finished the first five bedroom house.  It is so thrilling to know we have had a part in providing a beautiful home for a family less fortunate than ourselves.

Our last project was refinishing the front porch and rear deck.  The interior of the house is complete at this point…fresh and new!  On the back of the house it was almost too warm in the sun staining the deck and railings!

On to the second house today, a full refurbish.  This place was in very sad shape when it was given to Habitat. In two weeks, we have turned it around, and hopefully we’ll be close to the finish line as we end our stay in Macon on Saturday afternoon.  Today I took on a very cruddy pantry, needing lots of TLC.  I emptied, cleaned, cleaned some more, mudded, and painted till quittin’ time.  Tomorrow I’ll get the second coat on the shelves and reassemble the pantry.  Good feeling of satisfaction!  Anything kitchen is a joy to me……Bon appetit to the new homeowners!

Earlier this week the team was invited to dinner at the Presbyterian Church responsible for starting Habitat in Macon…..then our building coordinator invited us to his church last night for a lasagna dinner.  Tomorrow will be dinner at a local seafood restaurant, a wrap-up for the team.  So much for weight control this week!

Moments of grace:  today I am so thankful for new friends with a common goal – sharing our passion, skills, and time with people we don’t even know….and doing our best work!
